Barcode Software really falls into 2 categories as described below.
1) The lighter or simplest of the categories creates the ability to generate barcodes and do design. These programs do WSIWIG-What you see is what you get., to create elaborate 200, 300, and 600 dpi on all barcode printers and some badge printers. These can be used to do something as simple as pull from a spreadsheet or an existing ODBC Source or Database. Advanced versions of these programs can allow you to create a design and push data to a report or program, designed on the designer.
Niceware(Nicelabel), Seagull(Bartendar), and Teklynx(Label Matrix/Labelview) all provide products to design and print barcodes.
2) The more complete software package would be one that does all facets of a barcode system. Collection of data, input of data, printing or data, and even reporting. Fixed Assets, Inventory, Check In Out, Stockroom, Package Track, and Shipping Only are represented.
